Psa 90:13 (KJV) Return, O Lord, how long?
and let it repent thee concerning thy servants.
Is there any area of life that is particularly difficult and frustrating for you?
Then you probably have handled it with your own strength and by your own efforts, wisdom,ideas, schemes, expertise, other beautiful details of your human capabilities, and probably the counsel of others, for too long.
But now the Lord says, “Return! It’s time to try something new and actively seek ME for help!”
You return man to dust
and say, “Return, O children of man!”
Psa 90:3 (ESV)
Engaging God for help goes beyond merely praying. There comes a time in life when one must resolve to stop tackling familiar life challenges with his own familiar methods, and start consulting the Lord’s preference as spelled out in His words!
But Daniel resolved that he would not defile himself with the king’s food, or with the wine that he drank. Dan 1:8 (ESV)
If you’d apply this principle to that frustrating finance, marriage, relationship, career, ministry, business, etc. and determine to start checking out and applying God’s preference FIRST (and BEFORE) consulting your own strength, will, emotions, experience, wisdom, intellect, or reaching out to another man for help; then you’d see start seeing tangible improvement as things begin to take a turn around for the better.
Have you not known? Have you not heard?
The Lord is the everlasting God,
the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He does not faint or grow weary;
his understanding is unsearchable.
Isa 40:28 (ESV)
Trust in the Lord with all thine heart;
and lean not unto thine own understanding.
In all thy ways acknowledge him,
and he shall direct thy paths.
Pro 3:5-6 (KJV)
Lord, again, I have circled this mountain one too many times. I have tried to tackle this frustrating issue long enough. But Lord, for how long?
Please teach my heart to seek Your counsel first before any human counsel, even my own will. Help me to lean on You with all my heart. And as I do Lord, please grant that the challenges I see today I see no more. Rather, let my mouth be filled with testimonies of Your goodness over those seeming ‘insurmountable’ issues in Jesus’ name. Amen!
