Luke 18:35 And…as he was come nigh unto Jericho, a certain blind man sat by the way side begging:

Jesus considered His next trip. He was inching towards Jerusalem, and … the climax of His coming… “Father, if only this cup could pass …” , He wished.

Nevertheless for Him, the Father’s will was the ONLY option. However, He would have to pass through Jericho.
Jericho! Darling of the cities!
A smile lit His gentle face as He took a sneak preview of the journey before Him. He was to accomplish two main missions among others on this trip: first, to restore sight and vision to a certain terribly despised blind man- a man so reviled as to have been tagged by his circumstance.

Blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus! As though ‘Blind’ was his surname. Jesus sighed!

If only sons of men would learn that victory in life is not a function of a man’s status, background or circumstances; for the same Lord over all is rich unto all who call upon His name. (Rom. 10:12 KJV)

If only they would learn that regardless of all their tears, efforts and struggles, only one thing could attract God’s favour and intervention… FAITH- strong belief in God’s ability backed up with corresponding action!

Of course, men would try to stop Bartimaeus in their customary way, but Jesus knew that Bartimaeus would be too adamant on divine intervention…too rigid regarding what he believed…too bent on getting His attention to be stopped! Barthemaeus would put his entire weight behind what he had heard and learned about Him and back up his belief with action… and he would keep crying out until he got His attention.

Jesus rejoiced in the spirit!

The thought of it all made Him want to race towards Jerusalem. It was worth it after all!

Prayer:
Lord Jesus, Please help me to always back up my confident trust in you with my words and actions irrespective of the world’s opinion. Amen!
