Prov.14:23 (KJV) In all labour there is profit: but the talk of the lips tendeth only to penury.
John Ruskin has rightly said, ”The highest reward for a person’s toil is not what they get for it, but what they become by it.”
Hence, it has become very imperative to take a quick but critical and honest look at our current work environments (i. e. the entire people, tools and job roles or processes mix.)
In this regard, the following kinds of work environments exist:
The highest reward for a person’s toil is not what they get for it, but what they become by it – John Ruskin
1. Environments where day to day operations challenge and train the individual to improve on his present role.
2. Environments where daily operations build up an individual’s capacity by stretching him beyond the demands of his current role and exposing him to trends beyond the four walls of his office and the confines of his industry.
This prepares him for the next level, making him more fit for tomorrow!
However, if an individual happens to be in an environment where the room for growth has been exhausted, then there might be need to make a change.
For instance if daily operations are routine, and place no demand on employees’ mental and innovative capacities, then might be time to move on because people in such environments become rusty and literally depreciate in value with time!
How would you rate your work environment? With whom do you interact in business?
He that walketh with wise men shall be wise:
but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.
Pro 13:20 (KJV)
This analysis is vital for proper personal positioning on the job and suggests the stance to assume as regards personal growth and development.
Lord, Your word says that he who walks with wise men shall be wise. Please help me to locate and position myself in places conducive for my growth and development and environments compliant with my Next Level in life. Amen.
