Rom 12:3 (KJV) For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.
I often wonder why pride is a much more celebrated sin than self condemnation because both are sins alike.
As a matter of fact, while it is wrong to have a higher esteem of oneself than necessary, it is equally wrong and perhaps, even more hazardous to destiny to keep putting oneself down!
Yet, lots of people today are plagued by this ill- feeling of inferiority and self condemnation, and they don’t even think it’s abnormal!
Anyone who would readily value, appreciate and celebrate every other person but himself needs help.
Bad attitudes like pride, selfishness and the likes are notorious, probably because they affect others.
Meanwhile, unhealthy attitudes such as worry, self pity, self condemnation, which are equally bad, are hardly noticed! Sadly, these attitudes could be even more potentially dangerous to the bearer and the world at large!
It has been said that not even God would help a man with a bad attitude- of which a poor opinion of oneself is chief. Without faith, it is impossible to please God!
No one has the right to put down anyone who has been created in God’s image- and that includes himself!
Regardless of who you are, what you’ve done wrong or how far away you are from the ideal, you need to stop this self condemnation TODAY and watch God lift you!
… not even God would help a man with a bad attitude- of which a poor opinion of oneself is chief. Without faith, it is impossible to please God!
Veronica A. Shoffstall, a renowned poet once advised, “Plant your own garden and decorate your own soul, instead of waiting for someone to bring you flowers”.
Stop putting yourself down and start celebrating yourself today, and watch the world literally celebrate you shortly!
How could I who am wonderfully fabricated in Your own image and according to Your unique design, and fully endued from above with all Your abilities keep berating myself? For this Lord, I am sorry.
I don’t ever want to berate myself again from today. Please help me dear Lord to see myself through Your own eyes- just the way You see me. For it isn’t my (in)adequacies that matter, but Your Ability in me. Help me to lift my head up high regardless of the odds against me, that I might fulfill destiny in spite of it all to Your glory.
