Gen 26:1-3; 6 (KJV) And there was a famine in the land, beside the first famine that was in the days of Abraham. And Isaac went unto Abimelech king of the Philistines unto Gerar. And the Lord appeared unto him, and said, Go not down into Egypt …Sojourn in this land, and I will be with thee, and will bless thee… And Isaac dwelt in Gerar:
There is a certain ‘place’ peculiar to each of us on our journey towards destiny. (And may we quickly add that the ‘place’ is not necessarily a physical location but might as well symbolize a peculiar setting, trade or field of endeavour.)
Many however have veered off their ‘place’ in search of a more comfortable place due to adversity and little discomforts here and there, each of which is meant to build, prepare and usher them into each succeeding level on the journey.
That is exactly what Isaac could have ended up doing had the Lord not showed up to stop him. The grass always looks greener elsewhere for sure. However, there is a way that seems right to a man, but the end of it is destruction!
It’s hard to operate or prosper in a place other than where God has planted us. Though one may grow and bloom there, it’s only always for a season because ultimately we cannot fulfil destiny in a place other than our place.
Are you faced with adversity on your journey today? Do not leave your place. Rather it’s time to seek the Lord’s face as regards what to do.
Lord, it’s so funny how the grass always looks greener on the other side when the going gets tough. However, please grant me the grace to resist the urge to jump out of my place no matter how tough it gets, but to rather seek Your face as to what You’d want me to do in Jesus’ name. Amen.
