Gen 1:1-3 (GW) In the beginning God created heaven and earth. The earth was formless and empty, and darkness covered the deep water. The Spirit of God was hovering over the water. Then God said, “Let there be light!” So there was light.

Welcome to #HolyGhostSeries.

Who then is the Holy Spirit?

The Holy Spirit is the third Person of the Godhead or Trinity- the highest seat of authority, dominion and power in existence.

He is as much God as the Father and the Lord Jesus. And quite contrary to popular misconceptions about Him, the Holy Spirit is not a force or thing, but a Person who has a will, an intellect or mind-and emotions.

The first point we shall consider about the Holy Spirit is the fact that He is the One who implements the will of God.

While the Father has a will, and Jesus is the spoken word i.e. the order or instruction given to execute God’s will, it is the Holy Spirit who runs swiftly to bring the will and the word of instruction to pass.
The Holy Spirit is the One who acts out and fulfills the purpose of the Father on earth, in the Church and of course, in the life of the believer.

For instance, in the beginning when the earth was formless and void, the Holy Spirit hovered upon the face of the deep, standing by for an instruction from the Father so He could swing into action. And when the Father did speak, He brought it to manifestation.

Likewise, the Holy Spirit is always standing by to act out God’s plans and counsels in our lives.

But if the Spirit of the One who raised up Jesus from the dead dwells in you, the One who raised up Christ from the dead shall also make your mortal bodies alive by His Spirit who dwells in you.
Rom 8:11 (MKJV)

Being a very gentle Person, however, He requires our invitation to operate.

Therefore, if you’d like to see His everlasting light shine through the formless and void places of your life, then you’d need to consciously invite Him and ask Him to work out God’s plans in those seemingly dark places– areas He has actually been brooding over, seeking your permission to intervene.

As you allow Him room to operate in your life, may He revive you and grant you a new life in Jesus’ name.

Prayer:

Sweet Holy Spirit, thank You for showing me that it is You who executes God’s plans and purpose on earth and in the Church at large; and in my life in particular.

I grant You full control over my life today. Please take away every impediment, straighten every crooked thing and please work out every one of God’s written and spoken promises in my life. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
