Isaiah 42:22 (KJV) But this is a people robbed and spoiled…
(Continues from Day 38: Our God Is Ever Proactive
Surely, God wouldn’t do a thing without preparing His people.
But we are a reactive people:
A people always taken unawares…
A people always cornered by life’s events…
A people constantly overtaken by life’s outcomes…
A people more apt to start fighting the wind
When the battle is almost over-
And reacting after the enemy is (almost) done and gone!
And these are they which are sown among thorns; such as hear the word, And the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful. Mark 4:18-19 (KJV)
How come we’ve waxed so dull of hearing
Even when the clarion call sounds so loud?
How come we don’t see so clearly like we used to-
Even when the battle line is drawn so thick?
The cares of this world.
The deceitfulness of riches.
And lusts of other things entering in…
Lust of the eyes.
Lust of the flesh.
The pride of life.
What shall we eat?
What shall we drink?
Wherewith shall we be clothed?
And men have despised their places
And sold their birthrights
For morsels of bread…
Looking for answers and solutions where there’s none..
Engaging in spiritual warfares unawares
Relying on carnal, mundane and archaic weapons
Backed with weak, earthly and porous strategies….
(To Be Continued…)
Lord, why do I still stray so much when You’ve already paved the way for me, marking out all the right paths for my feet to tread?
Why do I still grope in the dark banging my head over and over when You’ve lit up my paths through the light of Your words?
Please help me to embrace Your answers: the sign posts You’ve left for me and lights You’ve lit for me by Your holy words to take me through this life’s journey victoriously. Amen.
