Day 45: Look For The Best In People

Proverbs 17:9 (MSG) Overlook an offense and bond a friendship;fasten on to a slight and—good–bye, friend!

Welcome to #WinningWithPeople series!

When you focus on the good in others, their strengths stand out and their flaws become smaller. It’s all about perspective.

When you look for what is disagreeable about someone, the more negative things you will find. They seem to multiply.

Conversely, when you look for what is agreeable in someone, the more positive things you will find. They seem to multiply too.

You can actually influence your mood and those of others with your point of view.

When you focus on someone’s flaws and you help create a negative atmosphere, and everyone feels worse.

When you focus on the good points of someone however, you help create a pleasant atmosphere. Everyone then feels a lot better.

It’s as simple as that. Try it for just one day and recount the results if you don’t believe!

Lord, it’s true that I have the tendency to judge and to expect the worst in my interpersonal relations. From today, please grant me the grace to look for the best in people and expect only the best from my relationships. Amen.
