Rom. 12.2 (NIV) Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind

Have you ever heard counsellors advise that the worst harm anyone on earth can ever do to a man is ‘pity’ him?

Pity isn’t compassion. It’s deadly and renders men incapacitated. Self- pity is even worse. It’s a very destructive attitude which can burst the bubble of a potentially beautiful life prematurely!

That’s even nothing compared to the damage a man who wallows in self pity can do to himself- his life, his destiny and those of people around him!

Pity isn’t compassion. It’s deadly and renders men incapacitated. Self- pity is even worse. It’s a very destructive attitude which can burst the bubble of a potentially beautiful life prematurely!

The difference between pity and compassion is this: Pity rallies round to celebrate the problem while leaving it u resolved and in most cases, even worse than ever.

And Jesus, moved with compassion, put forth his hand, and touched him, and saith unto him, I will; be thou clean. And as soon as he had spoken, immediately the leprosy departed from him, and he was cleansed. Mark 1:41-42(KJV)

Compassion on the other hand loves and cares too much to tolerate the problem. It seeks solution, provides solution and leaves the situation better than it ever was.

In all you do, do not allow anyone to pity you let alone pity yourself no matter what you’re going through.

Prayer:

Dear Lord, now I know that pity is not compassion. Teach me not to pity but to show compassion.

And please Gracious Lord, help me not to engage in Self-Pity nor allow myself to be pitied regardless of what I face. Amen
