Rev.4:11 (KJV)…for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.

Work is vital to human existence. However, working without striking proper life balance could be threatening to our well-being, career and even destiny.

Hence, it is Important to address the subject of attaining the required balance.

Work-Life Balance is essential regardless of whether one is a business owner or an employee; and irrespective of one’s level on the career ladder or his life’s dreams and aspirations.

Though God mandated man to work, He created him NOT for stress,

Though God mandated man to work, He created him NOT for stress, but to live for and to fulfill His pleasures fundamentally. Hence, man is meant to work to live and not the other way round.

One of the symptoms of an approaching nervous breakdown is the belief that one’s work is terribly important.
-Bertrand Russell

In other words, there should be room enough for anyone to really live, enjoy life, and fellowship with the Creator and the rest of the creation!

…if your livelihood leaves you reactive to life more often than not, then you sure need a break.

Bertrand Russell, a 20th Century British philosopher and logician once said, “One of the symptoms of an approaching nervous breakdown is the belief that one’s work is terribly important.”

Funny, but it’s that serious!

Going by that mindset, the concept of Work must never be blown out of proportion!

If the demands of your present occupation are such that you hardly have any time to think, plan, dream; time for your talents, relationships, recreation and most essentially, time for God and His service; if your livelihood leaves you reactive to life more often than not, then you sure need a break.

Please watch out for more on this subject under the hash tags #Worklife and #Worklifebalance.

Prayer:

Lord, thank You for showing me that the reason why I am always firefighting and reactive to life is that I am lopsided towards work. Please help me to strike the required work-life balance. Amen.
