Day 21: Was It Samson’s Muscles?

Jdg 14:5-6 (KJV) Then went Samson down, and his father and his mother, to Timnath, and came to the vineyards of Timnath: and, behold, a young lion roared against him. And the Spirit of the LORD came mightily upon him, and he rent him as he would have rent a kid, and he had nothing in his hand:

Contrary to popular opinion about Samson being a man of very great stature considering his exploits, Bible scholars today believe that Samson was a very ordinary man- a man of very average build.

In fact, wikiAnswers.com gave this response to the question as to if Samson was muscular:

“It isn’t known if he was or not. He need not have been since his power came from the spirit of the Lord.”

What an accurate answer!

As we journey towards developing and releasing our potentials to the glory of God and the benefit of the world around us, (especially our family, community and nation at large) it becomes very necessary to know where our strength really lies so that we do not put our confidence in the wrong place or get intimidated when we do not ‘measure up’ by certain human standards.

It isn’t known if he (Samson) was (muscular) or not. He need not have been since his power came from the spirit of the Lord.

The anointing is God’s Ability on our inside in action; and that, in the person of the Holy Spirit working through us to achieve great feats beyond the constraints of our human abilities.

It takes more than human effort or ability but the power of God to make any tangible difference in life.

While it is very imperative to keep acquiring the necessary skills, and developing our talents, it is even more important to note that it is only by the power of God that we can make any tangible difference and positively influence the world around us.

The skill and strength might be ours, but the power to influence any one or make any difference comes from God only.

We must agree that there are many gifted orators, singers, writers who are not making life any better despite their efforts because of this same reason.

It takes more than human effort or ability but the power of God to make any tangible difference in life.

So are you seeking to so sharpen your skills and talents as to be relevant in the world around you today? Take it a little further by seeking God’s unction upon your skills and initiatives also.

Prayer:

Lord, I’m exceeding grateful for the grace of access to Your Anointing- the unction to function in my endeavours, Your very Ability, the Holy Ghost at work in and through me to make great changes.

And so Lord, please grant by Your grace and anointing that I scale obstacles, still oppositions; positively influence and conquer not just one or two men, but great territories- even entire nations for You in Jesus’ name. Amen..
