Luke 19:17 (KJV)And he said unto him, Well, thou good servant: because thou hast been faithful in a very little, have thou authority over ten cities.
The call to deliver amidst scarce resources at the work place or in business is a test of three things:
1. The ability to manage
2. The ability to use our initiatives
3. The ability to innovate and provide necessary walk-around’s in difficult situations.
All these show what stuff a man is made of. They answer to a man’s ability to THINK out of the box.
Surely, hardship is a revealer of a man’s real make up.
If thou faint in the day of adversity, thy strength is small.
Proverbs 24:10 (KJV)
Besides, anyone who fails the test and falls short in any of the three points will find it hard to get promoted at work or to move the next level in business.
He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much. Luk 16:10-12 (KJV)
One skill we can acquire from seasons of scarcity is the ability to spend judiciously and to stretch one’s available resources to deliver more.
We learn to be innovative, to negotiate for the best deals and to achieve more with less. Scarcity curbs wastage for sure.
Therefore, just before you become paralysed by having to deliver value amidst scarcity, take a second look at the little resources you have to play with and ask for the grace to be innovative.
I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound:every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.
Phi 4:12 (KJV)
You will be surprised to discover how much you can still achieve and how far you can still go even with this very little.
Besides, wouldn’t it be praiseworthy if you can testify at year end, “Lord, see how much I have gained and achieved from the very little I had to begin with”!
Lord, the ability to achieve more with less is noteworthy.
Please grant me the grace and wisdom to be faithful with little so that much more, even true riches might be committed to my trust. Amen.
