Ps.55:3-8 (KJV) Because of… the enemy … the oppression of the wicked …Fearfulness …trembling … and horror hath overwhelmed me. And I said, Oh that I had wings like a dove! …then would I fly away, and be at rest… then would I wander far off, and remain in the wilderness. I would hasten my escape from the windy storm and tempest.
Considering what it would take to achieve your life’s goals and passion, do you often feel like abandoning the crown and getting away?
You are NOT alone.
However, God wants His children to NOT accept defeat nor develop an escapist attitude like doves.
He’d rather have us develop eagles’ wings, conquer over our life’s challenges by His strength and soar in life over them, and despite them.
You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies;
you anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.
Psa 23:5 (ESV)
In any game, the goalpost is always in the opponent’s territory. Likewise, the table which God has set for you is right in the midst of your “ENEMIES” (Ps.23.5) i.e. your adversity, fears, pains, poverty, disappointments, unemployment, heartaches, despair, your… (you name every other thing you tag ‘enemy’ including those very things you’re running from).
Please GO BACK THERE AND CONQUER!
Lord, most times, I feel so threatened, pressured and overwhelmed by my life’s challenges that I’d rather just get away from the struggles and be at peace. I’d rather abandon the dream, goal and glory altogether and accept defeat.
Nevertheless, I know better now. Your will for me is not to escape like a dove but to stay right on and conquer. Please give the grace and tenacity required to face my challenges and win over them. Amen.
