Mat 5:14-16 (KJV) Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
The slogan in one of the organizations I’ve worked for is, “Stand to be seen; speak to be heard.”
Yet, our attempt to stand out from the crowd can be sometimes intimidating- even threatening as we might most likely stick out like a sore thumb to begin with!
To be outstanding in limelight we must definitely start shining in and through obscurity.
For instance, imagine trying to share a vision in its crudest form to doubting people or trying to express a gift still under review, or even run against popular opinion for a cause we believe strongly in?
Timidity, as expressed in fear of rejection, pain of being misunderstood, or shame of being misconceived and ridiculed, has paralyzed thereby preventing many from fulfilling destiny in this regard!
The world however belongs to those who would keep standing out for good causes no matter how hard and inconvenient. To be outstanding in limelight we must definitely start shining in and through obscurity.
Another interpretation of Rom.12.2 is, ‘Don’t allow the world (circumstances) around you to smother the flame within you!’
Regardless of how dark it is around you, or what it costs would you dare to stand up and stand out for God and purpose this new year?
Lord, how lonely and sometimes painful to have to walk alone in the quest for destiny. How hard it can be to swim upstream against the tides of this age still keeping my head above the waters.
However, I take solace in the fact that You are not one who cannot be touched with feelings of compassion for my infirmities; because you were also tempted at all points to back out and just flow with the tides of time, but You kept at it and did not give up!
For this I am grateful for I have in You an example.
Please grant by Your grace that I keep keeping at it pending the short while it takes for my light to break out for Your glory. Amen.
