What Are You Full Of?

Ps.104:34 (KJV) My meditation of him shall be sweet: I will be glad in the LORD.

Hab.3:17-18 (AMP) Though the fig tree does not blossom… and the fields yield no food, Yet I will rejoice in the … [victorious] God of my salvation!

As mentioned in our last post, ‘The Fundamental Law: Guard Your Heart’, the ability to possess, express and maintain JOY, regardless of circumstances is a strong measure of the maturity of a believer.

This is particularly true in today’s world where everything from breaking news to pressures from unrealistic targets, unrealizable expectations, failing health, personal inadequacies, insufficient funds due economic crunch among other things all compete with and try to erode our joy.

In any case, maturity is measured by what comes out of you i.e. what you think, say and do regardless of external circumstances.

Furthermore, what you bring forth is a function of what you are ‘full of’; besides, you can only get filled with what you ‘feast on’.

A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.

-Matthew 7:18

You could actually sing your way through hardship to victory as long as you don’t allow certain things  in your life.

Ever wondered how Habakkuk could possibly maintain his Joy amidst trouble? The answer is simple: He was a Joyful man- a man full of Joy!

Would you like to become such a joyful person?

Again, please keep a journal of your thoughts for the rest of the week this time. And just before you go to bed each day, take an inventory of what you feasted on for greater part of your day. Can you notice any trend or pattern?

If you’d examine your thought pattern carefully at the end of the week, say by Saturday night, you’d discover that therein lies the answer to the question of what you are actually full of… And the reason why you behave the way you do, especially under pressure…

Prayer:

Lord, a quick review of my thought pattern shows why I get so cranky and fretful, and can hardly express any iota of positivity when things don’t go my way and life’s events wouldn’t cooperate.

Like a wet piece of cloth, life will only squeeze out of me what I am full of. Besides, I can only be filled with what I’ve feasted on.

Lord, please transform me by the renewing of my mind.

Please grant that the meditations of my heart be always sweet and acceptable in Your sight and that I might live full of joy; rejoicing before You all my days even when things don’t go my way in Jesus’ name I ask it! Amen.
